During my years working in a corporate environment I decided to enroll in a Yoga class to improve my flexibility, increase strength and clear my mind. That was a number of years ago and I’ve learned that Yoga has helped me in a variety of ways from breathing properly, easing lower back tension and meeting some wonderful yogi’s along the way. After a Hatha Yoga Class I realized how much more limber my body felt and my mind was at ease. Yoga is not just a physical activity but a mental one as well. I learned the importance of breathwork and a gentle persistent practice made my lower back and hip feel better.
It’s extremely rewarding teaching others and hearing how my classes have benefited them in a variety of ways from increased energy, improved flexibility or calming the mind from a hectic work day.
Everyone is physically different and my approach to teaching is out of compassion and being gentle. The one hour yoga session is YOUR yoga and although some poses can be challenging I will not force you into postures you’re physically incapable of doing. My emphasis is on stretching the limbs, expanding lung capacity with breath work and enjoying the stillness of the mat. For one hour the “to-do list” of our lives is set aside. I’m continually attending Yoga Teacher workshops beyond my initial certification and learning new techniques that I happily share with my class.
